Eleanor Marie (Munsch) Basgall, 84, Russell, formerly of Plainville, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Kay Pogue Hospice Center, Salina.

She was born May 11, 1925, near Schoenchen to Alexander and Pauline (Graf) Munsch. She attended school in Schoenchen.

She married Maurice J. Basgall on July 23, 1946, in Schoenchen. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1993. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Dave Basgall, Plainville, and Cliff Basgall, Russell; three daughters, Gladys Leiker, Russell, Judy Chorice, Blue Springs, Mo., and Sheila Gaschler, Ellis; four sisters, Darlene Bortz, Claflin, Thresa Basgall, Estella Brenning and Fritzie Weicken, all of La Crosse; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Louise; seven brothers; and five sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Plainville.

Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to Kay Pogue Hospice Center of Salina or St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church building fund in care of the mortuary.
