She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Thomas County to John and Catherine (Korte) Robben. She attended Angelus Grade School and earned her GED at age 50.
She married William “Bill” L. Kruse on July 4, 1940, in Angelus. He preceded her in death in 1961. She continued to live in Angelus, where she raised their six children. She was a cook at Angelus Grade School for more than 35 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Angelus Daughters of Isabella and St. Joseph Altar Society. In 1992, she moved from her home in Angelus to Oakley, where she resided until her death.
She enjoyed her deep faith in God, her family, sewing and baking for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially with her grandchildren, and in her later years, going for donuts and coffee with her many friends.
Survivors include a son, Bill Kruse and wife, Jerry, Grinnell; five daughters, Beverly Traverse and husband, Tom, Buffalo, N.Y., Janet Struckhoff and husband, Kenneth, Grinnell, Mary Lee Oren and husband, Larry, Colby, Joyce Christensen and husband, Larry, Dana Point, Calif., and Elaine Wycoff and husband, Jerry, Oakley; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Herman, Ben, Ed, Fred and Rich; three sisters, Mary Schwarz, Elvira Halbleib and Cresentia Robben; and an infant granddaughter, Katie Lang.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley; burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Angelus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Cemetery, St. Joseph Church or Logan County Hospital in care of the mortuary.
