Elizabeth 'Betty' (Rome) Leikam

Elizabeth "Betty" (Rome) Leikam, 95, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

She was born June 28, 1917, in Victoria to John M. and Catherine (Sander) Rome.

She married William A. Leikam on April 27, 1949, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1980. She was a cook at Buckeye School for many years and a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays, and delivered Meals on Wheels for a number of years. She moved to Hays in 1976.

She enjoyed baking for her family and friends.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Theresa Rome, Hoisington, and Ann Rome, Hays; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard, Norbert and Edwin Rome; and three sisters, Lioba Hammerschmidt, Amelia Schmidt and Florine Schmidt.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 E. 13th, Hays, KS; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
