Elizabeth Hatfield, 79, Hays, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Victoria to Anthony and Alvina (Stecklein) Dinkel.

She married Kenneth "Cork" Hatfield. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1982. She worked at Travenol and then became a certified nurse's aide at St. John's of Hays and Good Samaritan Society, Hays.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and cooking.

Survivors include four sisters, Charlene Rupp and Theresa Giebler, both of Hays, Barbara Schoenberger, Colorado, and Rosie Mermis, Olathe; a granddaughter, Nicole Anderson and husband, Ken, Olathe; and four great-grandchildren, Tori and Alexis Daniels, and Lauryn and Kenzie Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Melissa LaDuke; four brothers, Harold "Frank" Dinkel, Norman Dinkel, John Dinkel and infant Anthony Dinkel Jr.; and a sister, Rita Herrman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, both at Brock's Funeral Home, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
