Ella Mae Bender-Bushell, 84, Russell, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Salina Regional Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1928, in Hoisington to Rueben and Katherine (Miller) Michaelis. She grew up and attended country schools in Susank.

She married Edwin Bender on Feb. 17, 1946, in Russell. He preceded her in death April 27, 1984. She later married Louis Bushell on May 10, 1986, in Russell. She was a housekeeper with the nursing home known as Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Dwayne Bender, Russell; two daughters, Sharon Norris, Salina, and Melissa Landis, Russell; a brother, Kenny Michaelis, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Bender.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
