Elmer L. 'Sam' Raymer

Elmer L. "Sam" Raymer, 83, Russell, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Pratt to Harvey and Corrine (Stephens) Raymer. He attended school in Pratt.
He married Leona Markhart on Nov. 8, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked for Cities Service Oil Co. and worked until retirement in 1995 as a head gang pusher.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years; two sons, Michael Raymer, Great Bend, and Curt Raymer, Sapulpa, Okla.; two brothers, Milton Raymer, Great Bend, and Calvin Raymer, Tyler, Texas; a sister, Esther Bernard, Placerville, Calif.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A gathering to honor his life will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the family's home, 620 W. 14th, Russell. Private services will be by the family at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell, in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
