Elsie V. Beery, 90, Hays, formerly of Cimarron and Garden City, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Montezuma to Earl and Elsie (Burnham) Bindley.
She married Alvin Wayne Beery on May 8, 1938, in Cimarron. He preceded her in death July 2, 1998. She was a homemaker, and she and her husband owned Western Auto Store, Cimarron, for 39 years until 1978.
She was a member of Cimarron Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Burton Beery, Gorham, and Ben Beery and wife, Patricia, Whiteland, Ind.; a twin sister, Edna English, Cimarron; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and eight step- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lyle Bindley, Winnie Bindley and Bill Bindley; and two sisters, Marie Nichols and Evelyn Estes.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Cimarron Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.
Memorials are suggested to Hays Good Samaritan Center in care of the mortuary.
Elise, her and i would talk about evrything. Alwasy called her elsie girlfriend. We hug and laughed. She will truly bemissed. Prayes goes out to the family.
