Erma Gertrude Ulmer, 93, Hays, formerly of Alma, Neb., Beaver City, Neb., and Norton, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

She was born May 10, 1919, in Alma to William Elmer and Nina (Welliver) Gregory. She attended school in Alma and graduated from high school.

She married Dean H. Ulmer on Oct. 16, 1946, in Phillipsburg. He preceded her in death. She was a farm wife and homemaker and was a cook in the Norton school system for many years.

She was a member of the Methodist churches in Norton and Hays.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing ceramics and other crafts, and fishing. Her greatest joys in life were her family, especially grandchildren, and friends.

Survivors include a son, Gary Ulmer and wife, Pam, Olathe; two daughters, Kathy Clark and Jill Carver, both of Hays; a sister, Ruth Gillette, Alma; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alma United Methodist Church; burial in Alma Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Enfield Funeral Home, Norton.
