Ernest 'Ernie' C. Moden

Ernest "Ernie" C. Moden, 80, WaKeeney, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Beloit.

He was born June 27, 1933, in Trego County to Walter Lawrence and Ethel Jennie (Carpenter) Moden.

He married Henrietta Lorene (Ehrichs) Moden on Aug. 7, 1955, in WaKeeney.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Eric Moden and wife, Julie, WaKeeney; four daughters, Joleen Bourland and husband, Ron, Blanco, Texas, Sheryl Hillman and husband, Stan, WaKeeney, Lisa Moden, Whitesboro, Texas, and Christine Deines and husband, Dean, Austin, Texas; four sisters, Elene Wagner, WaKeeney, Vesta Pratt, Greeley, Colo., Emily Richards, Charlotte, N.C., and Anna Baker, San Antonio; eight grandchildren, Matthew Bourland, Amanda Bourland, Levi Hillman and wife, Audrey, Libby Kovarik and husband, Wacey, Mitchell Kroeger, Alise Gosselin and husband, Brandon, and Molly and Miles Moden; and two great-grandchildren, Denton Kovarik and Ryal Gosselin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vera Cooper and Mija Rorabaugh; and two brothers, John Moden and Walter Moden II.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Big Creek Recreation or Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hosptial Long Term Care in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, KS 67669.
