Ernest V. Swanson, 92, Salina, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He was born April 24, 1921, in Smolan to Edwin and Signe (Olson) Swanson.

He married Ila E. Turner on July 14, 1944. She preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army 8th Air Force veteran, serving during World War II during which time he was a POW and Purple Heart recipient.

He was a member of University United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1432.

Survivors include a daughter, Ina Swanson, Salina; a granddaughter, Stephanie Robertson and husband, Jeffrey, Salina; and three great-granddaughters, Ashlee Payne, Jillian and Hailee Robertson, all of Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Olivia; a son, Clyde; a granddaughter, Maria; a grandson, Tony; and a brother, Warren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at University United Methodist Church, Salina; private inurnment will be at a later date.

There will be no visitation.

Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is in charge of arrangements.
