Esther B. Schuckman, 92, La Crosse, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 30, 1919, in rural Rush County to Peter and Pauline (Stecklein) Schaffer.

She married Ludwig J. Schuckman on Nov. 26, 1935, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death July 3, 2001. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, LeeRoy Schuckman, Hays, and Eddie Schuckman and wife, Roberta, La Crosse; a sister, Vernita Serpan, La Crosse; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Norma Jean Schuckman; two brothers, Rudy Schaffer and Robert Schaffer; and five sisters, Bertha Oliverius, Charolette Kline, Minnie Stejskal, Jenny Pozalek and Mary Urban.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse, in care of the funeral home.
