Eugene Rolland 'Ude' Holopirek

Eugene Rolland "Ude" Holopirek, 90, Rush Center, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.

He was born June 30, 1924, in Timken to Jean and Anna (Smrcka) Holopirek. He was a 1942 graduate of Bison High School.

He married Lois Hallett on Oct. 14, 1948, in Rush Center. He was a farmer.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, and the AAM.

Survivors include his wife, Rush Center; a daughter, Sharon Erway, McPherson; a sister, Roberta Terry, Quincy, Ill.; a granddaughter, Dee Erway-Sherwood and husband, Ryan, McPherson; and his twin great-grandsons, Cole Eugene Sherwood and Cody Max Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alvin Holopirek, Ernie Holopirek and Dan Holopirek; and a sister, Margaret Smith.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Rush County EMTs in care of the funeral home.
