Evelyn Scheck, 88, Russell, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Russell Regional Hospital.

She was born July 19, 1920, in Victoria to Joseph J. and Pauline (Paul) Dinkel.

She married Bernard "Ben" Scheck on Oct. 8, 1946, in Victoria. He preceded her in death May 18, 1993. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Ann Christian Mothers, both of Walker, and St. Charles Circle Daughters of Isabella, Gorham.

Survivors include three sons, Robert B. Scheck and wife, Patty, Russell, Lloyd Scheck and wife, Kristy, and Thomas Scheck, all of Great Bend; a daughter, Mary Anna Copp, Wichita; three sister-in-laws, Pauline Dinkel and Irene Dinkel, both of Victoria, and Clara Mermis, Russell; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers, Leo Dinkel, Adolph Dinkel, Alvin J. Dinkel, Joseph Dinkel, Bonvent Dinkel, Edmund Dinkel, Bill Dinkel, and Aegidius Dinkel; and three sisters, Pauline Schmeidler, Lidwina Geist and Sister Lauretta Dinkel CSJ.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Walker; burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Walker.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, both at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria, KS 67671.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a St. Ann's Christian Mothers and Gorham Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7:30 p.m., all at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Russell Main Street Manor or Masses in care of the mortuary.
