Fabian Zimmerman, 84, Quinter, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 20, 1928, south of Park to Theodore and Rosalie (Heier) Zimmerman. He attended Sunshine School southwest of Quinter until the eighth grade.

He married Opal Beougher on Aug. 30, 1955, in Grinnell. He was a grain inspector for the USDA office in Gove. He help to build the elevator at Quinter. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Alan Zimmerman and Steven Zimmerman, Cheney; five daughters, Connie Albin, Quinter, Betty Pelzel, Salina, Brenda Ikenberry, St. Louis, JoAnnn Williams, Topeka, and Lois Mans, St. Louis; a brother, Edmund Zimmerman; seven sisters, Kay Younger, Johanna Dreher, Sally Burgardt, Alberta Knoll, Albina Moore, Loretta Waldman and Rowena Thomas; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Quinter Ambulance Service, Quinter Recreation (baseball and softball) or Masses in care of the funeral home.
