Ferdinand 'Ferd' A. Dietz

Ferdinand "Ferd" A. Dietz, 87, WaKeeney, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

He was born Nov. 15, 1924, in rural Trego County to Otto and Anna Elizabeth (Fabrizius) Dietz. He was a 1942 graduate of Trego Community High School.

He married Wanda Easter on Nov. 17, 1944, in Quanah, Texas. She preceded him in death Oct. 15, 2007. He worked for Pitroad Liquor in WaKeeney.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Dietz, Lenexa, and James Dietz, Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Carol Cavell, Prairie Village, and Laura Crook, WaKeeney; a brother, Palmer Dietz, Wichita; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in care of the funeral home.
