Frank Allen Karnes, 85, Colby, formerly of Hoxie, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Bowcreek Township, Sheridan County, to Oscar A. and Elma (Voyles) Karnes.

He married Darlene Stevens on July 12, 1953, in Hoxie. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer in Sheridan County for many years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Roy Karnes, Grainfield, and Keith Karnes, Leoville; two brothers, James Karnes, Loveland, Colo., and Gerald Karnes, Salina; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoxie Christian Church; burial in Hoxie City Cemetery, with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie.

Memorials are suggested to Hoxie Christian Church or Hospice.
