Fred H. Rietcheck, 89, Oakley, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Angelus to Henry and Magdalen (Polley) Rietcheck.

He married Julia Cooksey on Oct. 27, 1947, in Grainfield. He retired as owner of Oakley Gas Service Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving World War II.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Roger, Lawton, Okla., Thomas, Lake Tahoe, Nev., Dr. John, San Francisco, and Jerry, Lawrence; a daughter, Jane Rietcheck, Oakley; a sister, Mary Lou Schroeder, Watkins, Colo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Father Jerry Rietcheck, Father Bob Rietcheck and Don Rietcheck; a sister, Rosalie Jolly; a son, David; and a daughter, Joan Baalman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley.

A rosary/wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School and Oakley Trap Club in care of the funeral home.
