Freida (Sauer) Hagen, 90, Ellis, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital  Long Term Care Facility, WaKeeney.

She was born March 11, 1923, in Ellis to William and Mary (Zackman) Sauer. She was a graduate of Ellis High School.

She married Ernest Hagen on Oct. 19, 1944, in Ellis. He preceded her in death March 12, 2008.

She was a homemaker and worked at Baxter-Travenol for many years and farmed with her husband.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher.

She was a loving grandmother and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all kinds of school events and summer ball. She enjoyed spending time with her family playing pinochle at gatherings and holidays.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Cappy Werner and husband, Ronald, Plainville, and Wendy Hamel and husband, Jody, Damar; five great-grandchildren, Dalton and Shania Werner, Plainville, and Shelby, Cameron and Connor Knipp, all of Damar; and two brothers, Arnold Sauer, Ellis, and Larry Sauer, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Vivian Ullen (Hagen) Ouderkirk, on Jan. 20, 2009; two sisters, Adelle Keller and Hattie Dietz; and two brothers, Gardner Sauer and Billie Sauer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to her great-grandchildren’s education fund in care of the funeral home.
