G.W. Thompson, 80, Bison, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

He was born April 30, 1933, in Cookeville, Tenn., to William and Dollie (Hallman) Thompson.

He married Helen E. Hallman on May 4, 1957, in Russellville, Ky. She preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2004. He later married Lois M. Mendenhall on Nov. 22, 2004, in La Crosse.

He worked for Brodie Construction, Amarillo, Texas, and Jomax Construction, Great Bend, prior to retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Bison; three sons, David W. Thompson, Pratt, Daniel L. Thompson and wife, Julie, Tonganoxie, and Dennis R. Thompson and wife, Christine, Lathrop, Mo.; a daughter, Deborah K. Brashier and husband, Larry, Norman, Okla.; two brothers, Minor L. Thompson, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Franklin Thompson and wife, Zita, Russellville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lois Thompson, Norman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, the local chapter of the American Red Cross, or donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
