Garlan 'Mr. G's' Schoenrock

Garlan "Mr." G's" Schoenrock, 80, Victoria, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell.

He was born in LaMars, Iowa, to Emil and Ellen (Durr) Schoenrock. He was a graduate of Hawarden High School, Hawarden, Iowa.

He married Sandra Hall on June 3, 1955, in Reno, Nev. He worked for Hested-Newburry Corp. and in lumber sales for 20 years. He then worked for Chief Building and Zetlow farm equipment for eight years. He started Mr. G's food vending trailer and catering in the late 1980s and G&S sales until he retired in 2010. He moved to Victoria in 1978. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and American Legion, both of Hays.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Garlan Schoenrock Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Waynesville, Mo., and Ken Schoenrock and wife, Amy, Elk City, Okla.; a daughter, Sue Stahlecker and husband, David, Pocatello, Idaho; two brothers, Garry Schoenrock and wife, Holly, Atlantic, Iowa, and Denis Schoenrock, Hawarden; a sister, Elaine Kerr, San Diego; eight grandchildren, Richard Schoenrock, Susan Shawger, Christina and Tim Schoenrock, Dirk and Kip Stahlecker, and Aspen and Grant Schoenrock; and a great-grandchild, Ivy Schoenrock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2000 Main, Hays.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Graveside services were Aug. 23 in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, with military honors by Hays Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church.

Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
