Gary L. Boeve, 68, Afton, Okla., formerly of Hays, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, Okla.

He was born Nov. 22, 1945, in Norton to Louis and Edith (Bogart) Boeve. He married Saunie Schamber on Aug. 28, 1965, in Phillipsburg.

He was a mortician and funeral director in Phillipsburg and then in Hays, where he was owner of Brock's North Hill Chapel for 31 years.

He was a longtime member of Smoky Hill Country Club, Hays. He was a past member of the Phillipsburg Elks, where he served as Exalted Ruler. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Cunningham Assembly member. He was a member of Shangri-La Golf and Country Club on Grand Lake, Okla., and at Heritage Bay Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fla. He was an avid University of Kansas basketball fan.

Survivors include his wife, Afton, Okla.; two sons, Todd Boeve and wife, Cheryl, Lincoln, Neb., and Travis Boeve, Overland Park; a daughter, Angie Maloney and husband, Mike, Kingman; a brother, Ron Boeve Sr., Phillipsburg; a sister, Shirley Olliff, Phillipsburg; and four grandchildren, Brett and Mackenzie Boeve, Lincoln, Neb., and Parker and Macey Maloney, Kingman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Boeve.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Brock's Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays. A rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a parish vigil service at 7, all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
