Gary Wayne McClellan, 67, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013.

He married Susan McClellan on June 7, 1969, at Partridge Community Church.

He retired from Wichita Clinic and Boeing Aircraft.

He was an accomplished drummer and percussionist. He performed with the Fort Hays State University marching and concert bands. He was selected as a member of Lions Kansas State band and performed at Lions International in Toronto, Canada, in 1964. He was a 15-year member of the Cessna jazz band and a member of Joyful Sound at Pilgrim Congregational. He was a member of a rock band while attending FHSU. He sang with the Wichita Choral Society and Wichita Symphony Chorus.

He was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; a daughter, Melinda Carpenter and husband, David; a son, James McClellan and wife, Desiree; a sister, Linda Sears and husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Alexander and Christopher Carpenter and Gavin McClellan; two nieces, Terri Jones and Michelle Sears; and a great-nephew, Landon Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lorene McClellan; and a brother, Larry Eugene McClellan.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Congregational Church.

Memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Congregational Church.
