Gene W. West, 84, WaKeeney, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Buchanan Township in Graham County to James Buchanan and Roma (McClurg) West.

He married Vade Griffith on June 10, 1951. She preceded him in death Aug. 28, 1994. He was a farmer.

Survivors include a son, Troy West, WaKeeney; a daughter, Debra "Arthur" Windholz, Ogallah; a sister, Bonnie Brown, Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary West.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prairie Home United Methodist Church, rural Graham County; burial in Prairie Home Cemetery, rural Graham County.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City.

Memorials are suggested to Keeney Village or Prairie Home Church in care of the funeral home.
