Gerald James McDonald, 77, Ness City, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Galachia Heart Hospital, Wichita.

He was born March 8, 1936, in Ransom to Miles and Margaret (Musselman) McDonald.

He married Ramona Mitchell on April 6, 1957, in Ford. She preceded him in death Sept. 3, 1988. He later married Shirley Kutina on July 22, 1989, in Topeka.

He was a lineman for electric companies serving Ness County, as well as a farmer and stockman.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Ness City. He was an avid bowler, a former Scoutmaster of Troop 131 and he coached little league baseball. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include seven sons, Jim McDonald and wife, Rhonda, Hill City, Donald McGranahan and wife, Jackie, Topeka, Bruce McGranahan, Wamego, Nathan McDonald and wife, Michelle, Stuart McDonald and wife, Shelly, and Jeff McGranahan and wife, Jessica, all of Ness City, and Jamie McGranahan and wife, Faith, Collinsville, Okla.; three daughters, Debra Kubes and husband, Terry, Clay Center, Trudy Padilla, Paola, and Marlena Durflinger and John Merryfield, Ozawkie; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Barbara "Bobbi" McDonald; a brother, Joseph McDonald; and a grandson, Matthew McDonald.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Ness City.

Friends can call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church, Ness City, Ness City High School FFA, Ness City Relay for Life Team "The Cure" or American Red Cross.
