Gerald Pfeifer, 78, Buffalo, Ohio, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.
He was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Hays to Peter and Rosa Pfeifer.
He attended St. Joseph Military Academy and graduated from Hays High School. He attended Fort Hays State University.
He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne.
He was retired from working as an oil and gas producer for more than 50 years.
He always had a joke ready and will be remembered for his gentle and giving nature and his comedic spirit.
Survivors include his caregiver, Shirley Marmie; her daughter, LeVanelle Marmie-Thompson (Dennis Cramblett) and her children, Sydney and Hunter Thompson; sisters, Doloris Pederson and husband, Ralph, Clarine Baker and husband, Jim, Twila Smith and husband, Harold, Virginia Jacobs and husband, Jim, Ritha Linenberger and husband, Ken, and Rosemary "Sister Julia" Pfeifer; brothers, Herbet Pfeifer and wife, Henrietta, and Gilbert Pfeifer; sisters-in-law, Betty Pfeifer, Joann Pfeifer, Nita Pfeifer, Rosie Pfeifer, Velma Habiger and Sandy Pfeifer; brother-in-law, Al Fisher; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his many dog friends at Rose Road Kennel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Mary and Sister Alma Rose; and brothers, Floyd, Paul, Jim, Julius and Al.
Services were Thursday at Christ Our Light Parish, Cambridge, Ohio; burial in Union Grove Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Benedict Church for the poor.
