Gerard H. “Jack” Marcotte, 71, Hyattsville, Md., died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1942, in Palco to Henry and Olive (Brin) Marcotte. He was a 1961 graduate of Codell High School and a 1965 graduate of Kansas State University.

He was a self-employed businessman who worked in the insurance, construction, real estate, investment and mechanical service industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving at Fort Benning, Ga., Fort Sill, Okla., Korea, and Fort Meade, Md. Following his discharge as a captain in 1968, he and his family made their home in Maryland, and he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Kuhn), of the home; a son, Scott, Hyattsville; a daughter, Jacqueline Keeling, Silver Spring, Md.; a sister, Judy Hayden and husband, Leo, Goodland; and two granddaughters, Laura and Rachael, Silver Spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sundra Clark.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Damar; burial in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Zurich.

Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation or Folds of Honor Foundation.
