Gordon L. Zahradnik, 80, Lyons, formerly of Sterling, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born May 18, 1933, in Wilson to Emil and Georgina (Chrudimsky) Zahradnik. He was a graduate of Wilson School System and Fort Hays State University with a master's degree in education.

He married Rae Vivian Revell on June 7, 1959, in Wilson. She preceded him in death Oct. 8, 2013. He was a retired teacher from Sterling College and Wichita State District. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lyons, Board of Fort Hays State University Alumini Association, FHSU Half Century Club, Retired Teachers Association, Rice County Historical Society and American Legion, Great Bend.

Survivors include a son, Zane Zahradnik and wife, Dawn, Windom; a daughter, April Brooks and husband, Brent, Lucas, Texas; a brother, Junior Zahradnik, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Celebration Centre, Lyons; burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Wilson City Cemetery with military honors by U.S. Navy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.

Memorials are suggested to Rice County Community Foundation in care of the funeral home.
