Harold J. Meis, 65, Adairsville, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. He was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Hays to Edmund and Amelia Meis.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, who served as a surgical nurse in the Army for 10 years before being honorably discharged at the rank of captain.  

He enjoyed cooking and was a gracious host to all.

Survivors include his partner of 16 ½ years, John Phillips; his sons, Aaron, Josh and Matthew Meis; many grandchildren; a great-grandchild; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Earnest, Robert and Herbert "Hobo" Meis; and a sister, Sr. Ronald Meis.

A celebration of life potluck will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hal and John's Adairsville home. Festive attire is requested (not black) as this is a celebration gathering.
