Harold V. "Pat" Lewis, 76, Hill City, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

He was born April 26, 1933, in Palco, Ks., to Harold W. and Ioleane (Williams) Lewis.

He married Phyllis Ann Berland on July 16, 1955, in Zurich, Kansas.

Pat was a farmer/business owner in the area for many years. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1955. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force, serving with the 40th Air Refueling Squadron, Schilling Air Force Base, Salina, Kansas.

He returned to the Palco/Hill City area and operated Lewis Motor Company in Hill City, along with farming. Pat was one of the driving forces behind establishing Emergency Medical Services in Graham Co. and taught E.M.T. classes throughout western Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, of the family home; two daughters, Susan Lorenzen and husband Larry, Anita, Iowa, Mary Kay Davignon and husband Mike, Bogue; a son, Steven Lewis and wife, Carey, Hays; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Matthew Lorenzen.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hill City; burial at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be at Stinemetz Funeral Home in Hill City, on Thursday, 4 February 2010 from 2 to 8 p.m. and then at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Memorials are suggested to Dawson Place Nursing Home, in Hill City, Ks.
