Helen Maier, 92, Hays, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Via Christie Village, Hays.

She was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Russell County to Henry Jr. and Lena (Bender) Bender. She married Daniel Maier on Sept. 30, 1945, in Russell. He died April 7, 2009. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Joyce Maier of Newton; and a granddaughter, Shelby Maier of Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Donald and Richard; brothers, Herbert, Albert, Hubert and Thelmer Bender; and sisters, Leah Stoffel and Thelma Brack.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays. Burial will be in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, 27th and Fort. Condolences can be sent to www.haysmemorial.com.
