Henry J. "Hank" Pekarek Jr., 82, Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Missouri Veterans Home, Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 21, 1929, in Cleveland to Eleanor Bull and Henry John Pekarek Sr.
He married Doris "Dottie" Hamm Pobst on May 21, 1986, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a finance manager in the banking industry in Cleveland and San Diego for 28 years. After moving to Cape Girardeau, he became an independent sales rep for Charles Chips. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from March 27, 1951, to March 28, 1953.
He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral.
He enjoyed playing tennis and going to garage sales.
Survivors include his wife, Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Barb Neuhauser and husband, Ken, Hays, and their son, Kris Neuhauser, and Jan Barth and husband, John, San Diego; three stepdaughters, Sarah Zembsch and husband, Dan, Cape Girardeau, and their children, Joseph Zembsch and Anna Mae Zembsch, Carla Tedrow and husband, Tom, Winter Park, Fla., and their children, C.T. (Viktoria) Tedrow, Tyler Tedrow and Tara Tedrow, Myra Strasberg, St. Petersburg, Fla., and her daughter, Nicole (Greg) Harp; a stepson, Mark (Becky) Pobst, Cape Girardeau, and their children Chris (Elaine) Pobst and Matt (Jennifer) Pobst; a sister, Mary Ann Lipphardt, Cleveland; and a great-grandchild, Dane Harp.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, with military honors by Missouri Honors Team.
Friends can call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
