Herman J. Schwarz, 81, Colby, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Sheridan County to Alexander and Mary (Robben) Schwarz.
He married Joan Kaus on Nov. 22, 1956. He owned and operated Schwarz Auto Electric from 1985 to 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; six sons, Joseph, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark, Colby, Christopher, McPherson, Patrick, Hays, and Jonathan and Nathan, both of Colby; two daughters, Mary Farney, McPherson, and Amy White, Victoria; an honorary son, Charles de Coune, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Ann Juenemann, Selden, and Sister Rita Schwarz, Wichita; three half-sisters, Arvilla Juenemann, Selden, Dorothy Sierri, Aurora, Colo., and Phillis Norton, Manhattan; a half-brother, Irvin Schwarz, Colby; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby; burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be until 7:30 p.m. Monday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic School in care of the mortuary.
