Ila E. Swanson, 89, Salina, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.
She was born March 14, 1923, in Bennington to Ernest and Ola (Novis) Turner.
She married Ernest V. Swanson on July 14, 1944. She was a well-known quilter, displaying quilts at Smoky Hill Museum. She made ceramics, taught cooking classes, taught 4-H clubs, worked as a cook in elementary and high schools, and was a hard worker on the family farm.
She was a member of University United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest V.; a daughter, Ina Swanson, Salina; a granddaughter, Stephanie Robertson and husband, Jeffrey; and three great-granddaughters, Ashlee Payne, and Jilian and Hailee Robertson, all of Salina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Olivia; a son, Clyde; a granddaughter, Maria; and a grandson, Tony.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at University United Methodist Church; private inurnment will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is in charge of arrangements.
