Ina Fay (Hurlbut) Smith, 86, Russell, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Lucas to Merle and Gertrude (Zweifel) Hurlbut. She graduated from Lucas High School in 1945.

She married Daniel M. Smith on Dec. 15, 1946, in Sylvan Grove. He preceded her in death May 17, 1996.

The couple owned and operated the Smith Grocery store in Luray. She was a homemaker and Senior Companion.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Fay Leiker, Hays, and Radonna Kay Brandenburg, Russell; a brother, Larry Hurlbut, Salina; a sister, Joyce Scott, Russell; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell; burial will follow at Luray City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Russell Senior Center in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.
