Irene Lucile (Meier) Laubhan

Irene Lucile (Meier) Laubhan, 97, Russell, formerly of Shattuck, Okla., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Havelock, Neb., to Alexander W. and Martha (Batt) Meier. She graduated from Shattuck High School.

She married Georg Emanuel Laubhan on April 4, 1937, in Shattuck. He preceded her in death May 3, 1980. She did seamstress work, including alterations for Banker's Department Store until they closed.

Survivors include a son, John Laubhan, Russell; a daughter, Janet Flickinger, Salina; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary.
