Iris Britt
Iris Britt, 90, Phillipsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Phillips County Hospital Long Term Care, Phillipsburg.
She was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Phillipsburg to Ira A. and Lula (Murphy) Whitten.
She married Gene Britt in June 1937 in Lyons. She was a teacher.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Roderick Britt, Wilsonville, Ore.; a daughter, Fostine Gardner, Phillipsburg; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Private family services will take place; burial in Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Friends can sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, both at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
I was in Mrs. Britt's kindergarten class in Salem, Oregon probably about 1964-1966. She was a wonderful teacher; I don't remember alot from those years, but I sure remember her, and how much I learned and wanted to learn more. She was an inspiration for me, I was in awe of her. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family.
