Jack Daniel McKnight, 82, Luray, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.

He was born April 16, 1930, in Osborne County to Claude Ernest and Lottie Berta (Lewis) McKnight. He grew up in the Luray area, attended Prairiedale Country School and graduated from Luray High School as valedictorian.

He married Tess Dunkel on Nov. 21, 2002, in Geneseo. He was a farmer until retirement.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; and his step-sisters and brothers, Ruth Jennings, Jerome Hake, Alan Hake, Leon Hake, Marilyn Balaun, Elaine Parrack, Karen Walters and Meldon Hake.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Luray United Methodist Church; following the service, the family will have a private graveside service in Luray City Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Services will conclude at the church, with family and friends invited to stay for food and fellowship.

Memorials are suggested to Luray United Methodist Church, Hospice Inc., Osborne Gun Club or Luray Fire Department in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
