James Dinkel, 80, Hays, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born July 10, 1932, south of Ellis in rural Ellis County.

He married Frances L. Knoll on Aug. 7, 1950, in Hays. He worked for Hays Flour Mill then for F&L Plumbing. He retired from Fort Hays State University, where he worked as a plumber.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors include his wife, Hays; two sons, Jim "Hank" Dinkel and wife, Joyce, and Ray Dinkel and wife, Marilyn, all of Hays; a daughter, Jo Good and husband, Gary, both of Hays; a brother, Jake Dinkel, Mesquite, Nev.; three sisters, Viola Rupp, Hays, Rose Dechant, Kettering, Ohio, and MaryAnn Tinder, Kansas City; seven grandchildren, Travis Dinkel, Trevor Dinkel, Troie Lohse, Darcy Kimbrel, Scott Good, Rachel Harman and Carla Schmeidler; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; a sister, Cecilia Graf; an infant sister; and a great-grandson, Cody Schmeidler.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; inurnment in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.

Family will be present to greet friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice or the oncology unit at Hays Medical Center.
