James "Jake" Durall, 68, Hays, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at his home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Sterling to Ferrol J. and Mildred K. "Mimmie" (Haas) Durall. He attended Pawnee Rock High School and a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy, Hays.

He married Frances "Fritz" (Von Lintel) on Aug. 12, 1961, in Amarillo, Texas. He worked for Kansas State Highway Commission, Hays Police Department, Ellis County Sheriff's office. In 1976, he was an owner and operator, driving a truck, hauling cattle and grain until retiring in 2003. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors include his wife, Frances "Fritz" Durall, of the home; two sons, Bill Durall and Jeff Durall, both of Hays; two brothers, Ed Durall, Winter Springs, Fla., and Mike Durall, Boulder, Colo.; and a grandson, Casey Durall, Iowa Park, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors by Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9076.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays 1919 E. 22nd Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center, Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center or Masses in care of the mortuary.
