James Jerome Hecker, 75, Oakley, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Gove County to Martin and Frances (Ziegler) Hecker.

He married Noralee Schwebach on Nov. 11, 1961. She preceded him in death. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960.

He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Oakley co-op board and South Randal Township board.

Survivors include three sons, Kirk Hecker, Daniel Hecker and wife, Jennifer, and Christopher Hecker and wife, Karla; two daughters, Lorie Denning and husband, Joseph, and Sara VanEaton and husband, Paul; three brothers, Alvin Hecker and wife, Bette, Virgil Hecker and Gilbert Hecker and wife, Caron; a sister, Valere Devers; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Darlene Kitendaugh.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School in care of the mortuary.
