James M. Heim, 69, Lawrence, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1944, in Leoville to William and Marie (Mannebach) Heim. He was a 1969 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.

He married Mary Gail Lowery on April 24, 1971, in Shawnee Mission. She preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2009. He was a retired registered pharmacist. He worked in management for the Osco Drug Co. in the Chicago area for 34 years. In Lawrence, he worked for Heartland Home Health Care.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the KU Pharmacy Dean's Club and a lifetime member of the KU Alumni Association.

Survivors include a son, John A. Heim and wife, Marnie, Batavia, Ill.; two sisters, Bonita Lager, Grinnell, and Mary Niblock, Hoxie; five brothers, Jerome Heim and Gerald Heim, both of Hoxie, Joseph Heim, Overland Park, Don Heim, Phoenix, and William Heim, San Diego; a brother-in-law, Philip Thompson, Loveland, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Nora Kaschube, Lawrence; and a niece, Amanda Kaschube, Chicago.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Thompson.

Services were today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence; graveside services will be at noon Wednesday in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery, Hoxie.

Memorials are suggested to Capuchin Province of Mid America, Denver, the KU School of Pharmacy or to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
