James W. 'Jim' Anderson

James W. "Jim" Anderson, 87, Russell, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse.

He was born May 20, 1925, in Concordia to Floyd L. and Mary Agnes (Burch) Anderson. He was a 1943 graduate of Concordia High School.

He married Norma Jean Gagna on Oct. 14, 1946. He was employed by the Russell Daily News for 40 years, prior to retirement in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, of the home; a son, David Anderson, Russell; two brothers, Roy Anderson and Elton Anderson, both of Concordia; two sisters, Frances Hall, Wichita, and Virginia Moss, Delphos; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military rites by Russell VFW Post No. 6240.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Rush County Nursing Home or St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
