Jean A. Gibson, 81, Russell, formerly of Atchison, St. Joseph, Mo., Phoenix, Highland and Holton, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1931, in Falls City, Neb., to Jacob and Gladys (Goldman) Schuetz. She grew up in Falls City and attended local schools.

She married George Edward Gibson on Nov. 5, 1954, in Platte City, Neb. He preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1979. She was a certified nurse's assistant in Holton and Topeka hospitals.

Survivors include four daughters, Melody Anderson, St. Marys, Melanie Shelman, Arkansas City, Jean Oden, Wilson, and Gigi McCrory, Holton; a brother, David Schuetz, Texas; two sisters, Verna Roberts, Harrisonville, Mo., and Carol Reynolds, Hermitage, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel, Russell; graveside services will be in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 6 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Russell American Legion Post No. 99 in care of the mortuary.
