Jeanette Aileen Oliphant, 96, Claflin, died Sunday, March 24 2013, at Leawood.
She was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Claflin to Walter L. and Emma (Schreiner) Larson. She was a 1934 graduate of Claflin High School.
She married Charles E. Oliphant on March 9, 1950, in Salina. He preceded her in death May 4, 1973. She was a cashier for the Kansas Power Co. in Great Bend, a bookkeeper and payroll clerk for the Claflin Flour Mills and attended air-traffic controller school during World War II. She was a secretary in the education department at Barton County Community College from 1975 to 1986. She taught piano lessons for 46 years in Claflin.
She was a member of the Claflin United Methodist Church, Celebration Community Church, Hays, and attended Church of the Resurrection, Leawood. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Claflin, and was a past member of the Barton County Piano Teachers League.
She enjoyed music and playing the piano. She was an avid reader of Christian literature. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and serving and celebrating others, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Walker and husband, Don Rosemann, Shawnee, and Debbie Ermoian and husband, Kyle, Hays; two granddaughters, Jessica Baum McGee and husband, Matt, Marietta, Ga., and Lindsey Walker Rosemann and husband, Scott, Prairie Village; five grandsons, Jacob Baum, Portland, Ore., Lucas Walker, Lawrence, Joshua Baum, Tacoma, Wash., Devin Ermoian, Hays, and Taylor Ermoian, Hesston; two great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
Services and Order of Eastern Star Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Claflin United Methodist Church; burial in Claflin Cemetery.
Friends can call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
