Jerry Edward Hulse, 72, Coweta, Okla., died Monday, June 9, 2014.

He was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Russell. He was a 1960 graduate of Russell High School.

He retired as a Navy recruiter in 1980 with a rank of E-7 chief. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work and retired from Rockwell International. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 as a Kiddy Cruiser. He had an accomplished career of 20 years. During that time, he had three cruise tours of duty and two on-land tours of duty in Vietnam. He also attended several military schools, where he graduated top of his class. He obtained his pilot's license as well as a flight instructor.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, following the Dallas Cowboys, working with cattle, riding horses, and a hobby of driving semis.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Myrna; a son, Trevis Hulse and wife, Julia, Inola, Okla.; a daughter, Tiffany Drumm and husband, Buckeye, Coweta, Okla.; a brother, Joe Hulse, Vallejo, Calif.; a sister, Joyce Harkness and husband, Wayne, Wichita; three grandchildren, Ryan Hulse and Savannah, and Shayleigh Drumm; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Helen Hulse; a sister, Kathy Jacobs; and a brother, Don Hulse.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Okla.

Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans, 216 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429.
