John A. Hafliger, 75, WaKeeney, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover.

He was born April, 1, 1934, in rural Trego County to Friedrich John and Stella Mae (Lessor) Hafliger.

He married Doris (Mehl) Hafliger on Aug. 6, 1961. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Fred A. Hafliger, WaKeeney, John A. Hafliger Jr., Hays and Mark A. Hafliger, Beloit; a brother, Fred Raymond Hafliger, McKenney, Texas; three sisters, Clara Stoppel and Joan Stoppel, both of Sublette, and Fern Clark, Perryton, Texas; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
