John LeRoy Kuntzsch

John LeRoy Kuntzsch, 63, Russell, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 20, 1949, in Russell to William H. and Margaret F. (Reddig) Kuntzsch. He grew up in Russell and was a 1968 graduate of Russell High School.

He married Paula Pfannensteil on April 30, 1971, in Victoria. He worked for more than 20 years with ABCO Wire. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a hospital corpsman on the West Coast from 1968 to 1970.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, of the home; a son, John H. Kuntzsch, Oak Harbor, Wash.; a daughter, Tonya Crawford, Russell; four brothers, Bill Kuntzsch and Kenny Kuntzsch, both of Russell, Jim Kuntzsch, Dorrance, and Dennis Kuntzsch, Palco; a sister, Norma Acheson, Russell; and five grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial of ashes in Bunker Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Russell VFW Post No. 6240 Honor Guard.

Friends can sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to John Kuntzsch Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
