John Michael Mahoney, 73, Stillwater, Okla., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.

He was born March 6, 1940, in Garden City to Joseph Martin Mahoney and Marie Antoinette (Cecelia) Pivonka. He was a graduate of Russell High School.

Upon leaving the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in the San Diego Police Department. For family reasons, he returned to Kansas and worked for R.C. Williams. Later, he moved to Oklahoma City, where he was employed by a number of the local auto dealerships. He was a Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include a son, Michael John Mahoney and wife, Tamra, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Monica Marie and husband, George A. Anderson IV, North Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Tim Mahoney, Wichita; three sisters, Mary Ann Mahoney, Arvada, Colo., Marj Dusay, New York City, and Kathy Dunn, Stillwater, Okla.; five

grandchildren, Andy V. and Addison, both of North Little Rock, and Cole, Blake and Isabella, all of Oklahoma City; many cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joey; and two nephews, Randall Dusay and Stanley Tenan.

Private burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Russell.
