John William 'Bill' Grimes

John William "Bill" Grimes, DDS, 84, Smith Center, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City to Chester and Velma (Jack) Grimes.

He married Patricia Todd on Oct. 21, 1958, in Lawton, Okla. He was a longtime dentist in Smith Center, serving the community for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Robert Grimes, Austin, Texas, and Gary Grimes, Smith Center; two daughters, Annalee Ratliff, Athol, and Meribeth Lambert, Smith Center; a brother, Jack Grimes, Clarksville, Ga.; a sister, Dee Ann Faulkner, Garden Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

A celebration of life services and reception will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Evangelical Free Church, Smith Center; private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Rotary International Foundation or Shriners' International in care of Brock's Keithley Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
