He was born Dec. 4, 1961, in Hays to John W. and Wendella F. (Matheson) Axelson. He grew up in Natoma and was a 1980 graduate of Natoma High School.
He married Maureen Meyers on June 6, 1981, in Plainville. He worked 26 years for Murfin Drilling.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Morgan Axelson and Zach Axelson; a daughter, Sarah Walter Lister; his mother, Plainville; two sisters, Pam Launchbaugh, Pratt, and Kathy Raney, Rose Hill; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2000.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial in Natoma City Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the mortuary.
